How you can burn green grass
Garden mowing leave heaps of waste grass and other waste products. The situation becomes worse when you do mowing infrequently. In case you don’t have compost pile for grass decomposition, the burning option for grass decompose is best. The green grass possesses enough moisture and it is difficult to burn green grass as such. The best way to burn the grass is to burn the grass in increments.
Instructions
1. Clear the space of almost 5 feet in diameter to prepare a fire pit in your yard, also surround the pit with rocks. The pit you have made should be 50 feet away from any building and there should not be overhanging wires or trees.
2. Construct pyramid shape with help of 3 or 4 logs and put into the center of the pit. Then crumple up the news paper or simple plain paper and put into the center of the pit. Now stake the small branches and wood pieces on newspaper, take care of the logs and don’t disturb its structure. Leave a small entry point to access so you can properly light the newspaper that you pot into the pit.
3. Light the news paper with help of lighter and stand back and wait for the fire until it ignite the logs.
4. After the ignition of fire is properly set start throwing grass on the burning logs and stakes of branches. Make sure the first wave of green grass that you throw into the fire is completely burnt. In case you throw lot of green grass quantity into the pit, be patient until the grass has not burn properly. Avoid throwing too much grass quantity as it inhibits combustion process, because green grass contains enough moisture contents.
5. Frequently stir the fire with help of shovel, this process disperse the partially burnt grass pieces with burning wood. Add some pieces of logs if you feel the flames are not enough for burning the grass.
6. After you have brunt the grass, stay near to the remaining fire as long as it ignites. There are chances of spreading the fire to other places nearby your yard so you should take great care while you are doing burning process. Let the fire burn properly, when only the embers and ash remains, sprinkle the water from your garden hose. Turn the embers with shovel and insure there are no more burning embers.
